So Comprehensive, There’s No Need to Transfer
Unlike traditional long-term care settings, Carter offers a complement of on-site clinical services around the clock. This means that we can often avoid the interruption of care that occurs when patient needs escalate beyond the clinical capabilities found at most nursing facilities. In this circumstance, the on-site availability of our LTACH specialists and services continues the high level of care patients deserve – without disrupting their lives in the process.

New Construction
The hospital has utilized a variety of green building strategies and materials to enhance the aesthetic value and environmental-sensitivity of the site. By incorporating some of the measures outlined in this description, in addition to other sizable efforts, both buildings have received a Gold rating from the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program.

Welcome to the University Center, a place where great strides in healthcare and lifestyle are made every day.

This is a place where the Centers Health Care spirit of Heart. Health. Home. is felt by everyone, residents, guests, and employees alike. Heart comes first, because caring for people is more than a job, it’s a calling. And everyone here has been called to it. Then we say Health because we’re all about staying healthy, engaged and fit. And finally, Home. Home is where we all belong, where we feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. Our Centers are that home for all of our residents and guests, and our staff as well. So, welcome to our home. Maybe you’ll make it yours, too.

The six-story, 105-bed Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is the first newly built skilled nursing facility in Manhattan in more than half a century.

Staff at The Center have been specially trained to enhance their abilities to interact with patients and to work in non-traditional ways with those in their care and with their families.  The state-of-the-art medicine and care, along with surroundings and an environment designed to promote healing and well-being, enhance the patient-staff relationship.

Common areas are central to the two distinct “neighborhoods” that are created on each floor.  The “commons” are where patients can socialize with other patients, dine, relax and visit with family, friends and loved ones.  Dining areas on each floor have self-serve hospitality food bars and full-service pantries.

The overall facility design promotes efficient and effective delivery of rehabilitation services, respecting individual privacy and dignity.  A healing bamboo garden, integrated into the entire facility footprint so that it can be seen from all levels, will offer a place for quiet social interaction and contemplation.

The design facilitates the flow of patients and staff throughout the Center.  Operationally, wireless electronic medical records, wireless staff communications and electronic dietary, patient monitoring and workflow systems will support better staff functioning and patient care.

I would give you 5 Stars!!! My 95+ year young Mom has considered Sands Point Center her home for many years now. She has made many friends there of both residents and staff. The highly competent staff treats my Mom with dignity, and is welcoming and appreciative of family input. We could not have made a better choice for her ongoing care.

-Vincent Basirico

“My 89 year old mother has been at the Sands Point Center for the past two years and we couldn’t be happier. She requires assistance with most day to day activities as well as skilled nursing care. The staff has done an outstanding job in all cases. They are some of the most loving, caring people I’ve ever met, as well as being consummate professionals. The food choices at the Center are excellent and the residents are offered numerous activities to keep them busy. We moved out of the NY area last year and stay in touch over the phone and with visits 2-3 times a month. No matter when we get there, and we often come unannounced, everything is as it should be. I would not hesitate to highly recommend the Sand Point Center to anyone in need of the services they provide.”

“My stay has been very nice and the care has been very good. The rehab department was great and I can do a lot more than when I first came in to Sands Point. I would definitely recommend Sands Point to anyone in need of rehab.”

-Pierina Carbone

“I couldn’t ask for anything more; my stay has been very good. The therapy is very good and the care is stupendous. I would absolutely recommend this center.”
